Structured data (JSON-LD)

Machine-readable markup (Schema.org vocabulary as JSON-LD) describing page content. Helps AI and search engines understand and extract — but by itself does not guarantee citations.

Notes

Structured data attracts inflated claims. The honest summary: it demonstrably helps machines understand and extract, but there is no evidence that generic schema (Article, Organization) alone increases citations.

The exception is fact-dense schema. Product/Offer markup carrying prices, ratings and specs becomes a machine-readable fact source when AI answers product questions. The essence is “facts machines can read”, not “tags for tags’ sake”.
